Big Voice Academy

Join the Big Voice Academy with Katrin – a fun and intensive course for anyone that enjoys singing. Students will work with Kat learning a range of techniques aimed at improving your singing and performance abilities.

Course Profile

The workshop is aimed at early stage and intermediate students and will focus on teaching students how to perform in tune and with confidence. Kat’s teaching is geared towards people who love singing, but aren’t necessarily comfortable with reading notation. The only prerequisites to joining her sessions are a pair of ears and lots of enthusiasm!

Areas covered include: voice projection, pitching, dynamics, microphone technique and harmonising for backing vocals and acappella.

About the tutor

Katrin Yr Oskardottier has extensive experience in music and performance skills. Early on in her career, kat taught in youth centres in Iceland, whilst she herself studied classic vocals at Reykjavik academy of singing and vocal arts. Katrin relocated to the UK in 2006 to study at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance at Higher Diploma level and has gone on to complete the vocal Degree at Honours level.  Whilst studying Katrin has worked solidly on extending and developing her teaching, performance and writing skill set. This has seen her work in conjunction with Nokia, BBC, LIMS, Mushroom Records, Tim Rice, Shola Ama, TMS Productions and China National TV.
Her teaching experience is vast and includes working with the ICMP, IGF, Dance Bites, and Music For Youth as well as being in high demand as a Private Vocal Coach.
