Masterclass guest tutors:
Nigel North
Nigel is an outstanding virtuoso soloist, accompanist and ensemble musician. Nigel has held some of the most important teaching positions for the lute and early music in Europe and America, and is currently teaching at the Early Music Institute at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. This is a very rare teaching appearance by a truly inspirational artist. This class is suitable for lutenists and guitarists interested in early music and period performance.
Marco Socías
Marco lives in Málaga and is professor at the Centro Superior de Música ‘Musikene’ in San Sebastian, Spain. He became the youngest guitar professor in Spain aged 21, and has been awarded 1st prizes in some of the most prestigious international competitions, such as the ‘Infanta Cristina’ of the Fundación Guerrero, Madrid and ‘Le Printemps de la Guitare’, Belgium and Concorso Internazionale di Gargnano, Italy. He is an experienced and inspiring tutor making his debut in the UK at this event. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
Goran Krivokapić

Goran is a professor at the Hochschule for für Musik und Tanz, Köln, Germany. He is one of the most impressive guitarists in today’s classical guitar panorama, a truly amazing virtuoso and intelligent and distinctive interpreter. A much sought-after tutor, he makes his UK debut at this event. This is a unique chance to study with this exceptional artist.

Chris Stell
Chris is a professor of guitar at the Royal College of Music. He has performed at some of the most prestigious festivals & concert series the world over including the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Southbank Centre, 92nd Street New York, Omni Foundation San Francisco, Sage Gateshead, Uppsala Congress Hall, Beethoven Halle Bonn and Stuttgart Liederhalle.

Tom Kerstens

Tom is one of the foremost figures in the world of the guitar in his role as performer, recording artist and artistic director of IGF. He specialises in new music and has commissioned 92 new works by leading mainstream composers.

Kevin cahilL

Kevin studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with a Bmus (Hons) in Classical and Contemporary Guitar. He has since then formed the Glasgow Guitar Quartet and has performed throughout the UK and Europe.

What’s included:
  • Free admission to all daytime concerts and the EuroStrings Competition Final on Sunday, 21 July (admission to other rounds 18-20 July also free and open to the public)

Most lessons are run in a masterclass format where one student plays for the tutor, with one or more observer(s) present. 
Full course players will receive three 30 min lessons and can submit three choices of tutors of which we guarantee one. Participants on the full course can also participate in the guitar orchestra and the student concert and gain free entry to daytime concerts and all EuroStrings Competition rounds free of charge. They can also access online saver tickets for the evening classical concerts. Booking generally is run on a first come, first served basis.
