Join us for an unmissable evening featuring the Final of the London International Guitar Competition, 2018 winner, Emmanuel Sowicz, and David Russell.

Final of the London International Guitar Competition (LIGC)

Kings Place Hall One 5-6.15pm

LIGC is one of the most prestigious competitions worldwide which has attracted the best guitarists under 30 years of age who have come from 33 different countries. Tonight, three finalists will play 20 each to win the coveted First Prize.

Emmanuel Sowicz Concert – 2018 winner

Kings Place Hall One 6.30pm

A 30-minute performance by Chilean guitarist Emmanuel Sowicz, the outstanding winner of London International Guitar Competition 2018.
Programme will include the world premiere of Juan Antonio Sánchez’s Chilean Fantasy on Traditional English Melodies (2019) written for Emmanuel Sowicz. This is made possible through the generous support of the Anglo Chilean Society.

The concert will conclude with a performance of one of the greatest guitarists in the world, the amazing David Russell

David Russell is one of the giants of the classical guitar today. His beautifully polished and refined playing have made him a hero to guitarists and audiences the world over. His many recordings for Telarc have met with tremendous acclaim and numerous awards including a GRAMMY. David is highly sought after and tours the world continuously, this is a not to be missed chance to see the world’s foremost classical guitarist in concert, his only London appearance in 2019.

Flamenco Guitar Masterclass with Bettina Flater

Kings Place Wenlock Room 9.30-12.30

Bettina Flater is one of very few female flamenco guitarists in the world and works with the Spanish flamenco elite. She is a strong woman who has succeeded in a male-dominated and traditionalist Spanish environment, despite the fact that she is a blond foreign woman in Spain.

Young Artist Platform (YAP)

Kings Place St Pancras Room 12.30-1.30pm

Come and hear the future stars of the guitar, IGF’s YAP presents the very best of young international talent.
YAP offers much needed opportunities for young guitarists in the early stages of their careers. Audition winners are offered concerts at all of IGF’s festivals that year, including London Guitar Festival as well as workshops and mentoring.

IGF’s programme for new guitar music, new players and new audiences.

New commissions by Errollyn Wallen, Laura Snowden, Gabriel Jackson and Howard Skempton.

ASPIRE Stage – UK Conservatoires present

Students from the four leading London conservatoires will present chamber music with guitars.
